All of this should be pretty self-explanatory and I trust you guys to know this intuitively, but to be on the safe side and have everyone operating on the same standard, here's it spelled out for everyone.

1. IC =/= OOC
A lot of characters may not be able to stand each other, but this should not carry over to OOC. When a character is antagonizing your character, the player is not antagonizing you as a person. You are not your character. If you feel like these lines do blur and someone is treating you unfairly in a way you can't settle yourself, bring it to the mods.

2. No God-moding (And this isn't referring to Light's antics.) DN may be full of super geniuses, but don't have your character draw conclusions they have no IC way of getting to. What you know OOCly is not the same as IC knowledge.
On a second note related to this point, you don't get to decide what happens to someone else's character. Write 'L attempts to kick Demegawa' but don't write 'L kicks Demegawa and instantly sends him to the hospital'. It's up to Player 2 to decide what Demegawa's damage will be, unless you two talked it out first.

3. Be Nice To Each Other The master rule of online communication that needs little further introduction. No name-calling, bullying, what-not. Don't like someone? Don't play with them. The place is big enough for all of us.

4. Only DN characters are allowed here This includes the most minor ones as well as AUs and DN-based OCs. But the Real Actual Sherlock Holmes has no place arriving here. Sorry about it, but this is a themed comm in this regard.

5. No playing out sex Since there is no way for me to age-check all of you, this is the safest way.  Smut RP with minors could bring actual legal trouble and that's nothing any of us want to deal with in our downtime hobby, I'd bet. If you are over 18 and do want to play characters getting it on, do so on your own journals in a more private environment. In this community, you need to fade-to-black before the actual act. Make-outs are allowed, but nothing explicit is.

6. Be mindful and put content warnings You want to put up a post with heavily questionable and potentially triggering topics? Generally, you can go for it, but nobody wants to read this unwarned. If you do put up something sensitive (torture etc), put a handy warning at the top of your post so people know what to expect.

7. I won't command you to have fun but I sincerely hope you do have it Thanks for being here!

This is totally not fake and I have totally not made up all these questions before anyone could have a chance to ask them, psh.

I am new to DW and I need to get my bearings!

Please check out this post - a lot of the information there overlaps with what is written here, but it is geared more towards first time users.

Is there anything I need to do before I am allowed to play here?

Nope! This community is free for all to play in and enjoy. Join it and you're set to go, no applications or anything else necessary.

I want to play Character X but someone else is already playing them!

Absolutely no big deal. We would restrict player numbers immensely if we only allowed one of every character. Duplicates are encouraged. And just imagine, you could start a party log with seven Ls or have five Misas set out for a spa day! Possibilities are endless.

How do I tag my posts?

Please tag the posts you RP in with this format character name: yourusername . The character name should be in Western order. This way, everything is easy to check out and re-find. An example with my own character is this teru mikami: inordertobelieve .

Am I allowed to make open posts? What kind of posts can I make?

Absolutely! You are always, always, always welcome to make your own posts. In this, you are entirely free to come up with anything you might want to do. Here's some examples (that you are not restricted to by any means):

-Open Logs - 'My character is doing X, have your character come bother them', essentially. Just write out what your muse is doing and where they are and have others respond.

-Open Setting Posts - 'This is a room where everyone has cat ears, enjoy' or 'This is a beach in Hawaii, have fun'. You post a setting idea (with or without weird effects like the cat ears) and have characters mingle among each other in the comments.

-IC Internet Posts - 'I think Kira is lame as hell, what about you guys?' or similar effects. Specify your character is ICly blogging online and have other people respond in the same fashion.

-Memes - 'Have some prompts and have fun'. If you haven't seen what memes are like yet, check out communities like [community profile] bakerstreet for live examples.

From the most cracky and fun premises to the heaviest angst, every mood works perfectly.

Is there a specific setting / continuity? If so, how does it work?

If you want there to be. This is up to player discretion, essentially. You can treat your threads as individual, but you are also very welcome to make them an interwoven storyline in which your character remembers the threads they have been in previously.

An easy assumption to make for something as this is that they have been kidnapped out of their original world by forces bigger then them and are being tossed around parallel worlds mercilessly. They may find themselves wandering a mansion where each door leads to a different world or strange room, unable to return to their home (an idea that is respectfully borrowed from the original dndressingroom on LJ).

You're also free to handle this in any other way that sounds good for you and your character's development. It might even result in interesting interactions with other characters.

More questions? Take it to the comments!
