FAQ

This is totally not fake and I have totally not made up all these questions before anyone could have a chance to ask them, psh.

I am new to DW and I need to get my bearings!

Please check out this post - a lot of the information there overlaps with what is written here, but it is geared more towards first time users.

Is there anything I need to do before I am allowed to play here?

Nope! This community is free for all to play in and enjoy. Join it and you're set to go, no applications or anything else necessary.

I want to play Character X but someone else is already playing them!

Absolutely no big deal. We would restrict player numbers immensely if we only allowed one of every character. Duplicates are encouraged. And just imagine, you could start a party log with seven Ls or have five Misas set out for a spa day! Possibilities are endless.

How do I tag my posts?

Please tag the posts you RP in with this format character name: yourusername . The character name should be in Western order. This way, everything is easy to check out and re-find. An example with my own character is this teru mikami: inordertobelieve .

Am I allowed to make open posts? What kind of posts can I make?

Absolutely! You are always, always, always welcome to make your own posts. In this, you are entirely free to come up with anything you might want to do. Here's some examples (that you are not restricted to by any means):

-Open Logs - 'My character is doing X, have your character come bother them', essentially. Just write out what your muse is doing and where they are and have others respond.

-Open Setting Posts - 'This is a room where everyone has cat ears, enjoy' or 'This is a beach in Hawaii, have fun'. You post a setting idea (with or without weird effects like the cat ears) and have characters mingle among each other in the comments.

-IC Internet Posts - 'I think Kira is lame as hell, what about you guys?' or similar effects. Specify your character is ICly blogging online and have other people respond in the same fashion.

-Memes - 'Have some prompts and have fun'. If you haven't seen what memes are like yet, check out communities like [community profile] bakerstreet for live examples.

From the most cracky and fun premises to the heaviest angst, every mood works perfectly.

Is there a specific setting / continuity? If so, how does it work?

If you want there to be. This is up to player discretion, essentially. You can treat your threads as individual, but you are also very welcome to make them an interwoven storyline in which your character remembers the threads they have been in previously.

An easy assumption to make for something as this is that they have been kidnapped out of their original world by forces bigger then them and are being tossed around parallel worlds mercilessly. They may find themselves wandering a mansion where each door leads to a different world or strange room, unable to return to their home (an idea that is respectfully borrowed from the original dndressingroom on LJ).

You're also free to handle this in any other way that sounds good for you and your character's development. It might even result in interesting interactions with other characters.
